| Vicky
is the oldest show girl at
Cari-On at the age of six years. A big thank you to my best friend,
Brenda Brookes for trusting us with this lovely lady, uh well .... sometimes she acts like
a lady, well....when she's sleeping anyway! Most of the time she is busy keeping everyone
here in line, at least she's keeping us busy. She knows she's cute and she doesn't mind
telling us so!

Vicky made her debut the weekend of the
Mt. Hood Keeshond Club Specialty 1999. Unfortunately, due to very bad timing on her
mother's part, she was not old enough for the Specialty, but she made up for it the next
day at the first all breed show of the weekend. Her first trip into the ring she came away
with Winner's Bitch, Best of Winners and Best Opposite Sex over bitch Specials for a 4
point major! Thank you judge Shirley Uphouse! She has an absolutely "to-die-for"
show temperament and a body to go with it.
Vicky picked up her second major her
second weekend out. She traveled once again up to Washington for the Pacific Crest
Keeshond Club Specialty where she went Best in Sweeps under judge Marlene Presser and
Winners Bitch for a 5pt major under respected breeder/judge Joan Czarnyszka!

Then, on only her 3rd show weekend,
seasoned air traveler, Vicky, decided to travel to her birth town of Ottawa, Canada for
the 1999 Keeshond Club of Canada National Specialty and 3 all breed shows. At 8 months of
age she showed her mother, Dancer, that she too had
the right stuff. She went Winner's Bitch at all 4 shows and Best of Winner's 3 of the 4.
Her lovely brother, Jigolo, was Winner's Dog at the
National and Best of Winner's as well as Best Puppy in Group the last day as he started to
get the hang of things! Vicky finished her Canadian Championship in one weekend with a 5
point major as well!
For her fourth show weekend, Vicky
traveled to Phoenix for the November 1999 Sahuaro Keeshond Club Specialty. On Friday
night at the Specialty she was Best of Opposite Sex in Sweeps as well as Best of Opposite
Sex in the regular classes over 3 bitch Specials, including our own Toots,
who went BOS at the National this past year and is now owned by Barbara Brown, for a 3
point major as well as picking up her first ever Hall of Fame point. The following day, at
the all breed show, Vicky went Best of Winners for a 4 point major to finish her American
Championship with 4 majors and 16 points!
So, at 10 months of age, Vicky becomes the
youngest puppy at Cari-On Keeshonden to finish both American and Canadian Championships,
and in only 4 weekends of showing.
Vicky's Specials
career:
In Palm Springs Vicky celebrated her first
weekend out as a Special where she went Best of Breed and made the cut in the Group!
She posed for some fun photos one weekend
... wanna see? These photos were done by Family Tree Imaging
and they do a wonderful job.
In April she started blowing coat and was
taken out of competition briefly to bring her lovely kennel mate, Paige, out. But a few
short weeks later Vicky who had changed her mind about getting naked for the Summer was
headed for the 2000 National in Beaverton, Oregon. At just 15 months of age she was
eligible for Sweeps, Futurity and the Breed. More than 200 Keeshonds gathered at the
Greenwood Inn to compete over 3 days of shows.
Vicky won her class in both Sweeps and
Futurity winning enough money to pay for her plane flight home ... lucky thing, eh? Then
at the Mt. Hood Keeshond Club Specialty she managed to receive an Award of Merit, one of
10 Keeshonden to do so. But that wasn't the end of it for our special girl. Vicky made
Cari-On Kennels the proud recipient of the National Best of Opposite Sex award for the
second year in a row and the first of the Millenium!
A big thanks to all the judges who have
recognized Vicky's type and movement throughout the past 13 months and especially to
breeder/judges Shirley Uphouse and Joan Czarnyska who recognized this puppy's potential
from the very beginning! She now has 5 Hall of Fame points and it's only the beginning.
Vicky finished 2000 as the Number 18
Keeshond All Breed and Number 2 Keeshond female with Multiple Group Placements
and
Keeshond Club of America's
Top Keeshond in 2000! In
December 2000 she received her 7th Specialty Best of Opposite Sex for the year, quite an
accomplishment. In January 2001 she continued her Specialty BOS wins by going BOS at the
Southern California Keeshond Club Specialty for the second year in a row!
In early March 2001 Vicky picked up a Group IV to put her within 1 point of the 25 she
needed to achieve her Hall of Fame. Then, the last weekend of March, she flew up to Alaska
where she took a Group I under respected judge Dr. Harry Smith at the Tanana Valley Kennel
Club to finish the requirements for her Hall of Fame in style! She is one of only a
handful of bitches to do so and one of the youngest ever in breed history at just 26
months of age.

Vicky turned 2 years old on January 17, 2001 and went in for hip
x-rays. Her hips were rated OFA Excellent. She was bred last April to a lovely young male,
Ch. MtKees Olefort Crunch. On June 15, 2001 she whelped six puppies, we kept one, Cari-On Beck 'N Call (BECKY).
The
whelping of the litter was captured on video when Vicky was selected to
be featured on an episode of their series called "That's My Baby!". The
episode was aired several times and featured many of the local Southern
California Keeshond breeders and exhibitors who all came for the
puppies' coming out party at 8 weeks of age.
Thanks Brenda for this lovely, fun girl!
Vicky
completed her Companion Dog title at the Nor-Cal Keeshond Club Specialty weekend 2004
going High In Trial! She also has her Canine Good Citizen title proving
there are some brains to go along with all that beauty!

On
December 31st, 2004, Vicky had a litter sired by
Can Ch. Keeshee's Keesbrook
Smokin'Gun (Dillon). It was quite a New Year's Eve party and we are
extremely excited about the potential from this breeding. One lovely
bitch puppy went to Steve and Paula Williams of Kuhl Keeshonden and we
kept a bitch puppy we call Cari-On Gotta Have Faith (Faith). You can see
pictures of Faith at 4 months.

Flash****
Vicky
has been retired from breeding and will live a life of luxury ... gee,
nothing's changed. She has been a wonderful show girl, great mother, and
best of all, my best friend. I recently showed her at the Keeshond Club
of Southern California Specialty as a veteran where she had the time of
her life. She charged around the ring to the clapping of her many fans
and you could see the joy she was having at remembering old times.
